Planespotting is the new Trainspotting

Planespotting is the new Trainspotting

I’m a bit of a plane geek. I love watching them. I fascinated by how big they are. How they get into the sky. How noisy there are. I remember being glued to the sky as a child when visiting family down south near Heathrow. It was just a traffic jam of planes in the sky.

We live quite close to Birmingham airport and I’d been itching to go down and plane spot. The little gremlin is obsessed with planes too and always points them out in the sky and if she hears one always makes a comment. The recent Easter Monday was the sunniest day all year. So warm and sunny and we had been in on the Sunday, with a very tired ratbag with a cough so we NEEDED to get out.

Perfect excuse to plane spot. So we headed down and parked up.

It was awesome!

We watched a couple take off and loved the boom of the engines (this is getting nerdier by the second!) A couple landed, flying right over our heads. The gremlin was a little apprehensive of the noise but did watch fascinated and probably a bit bemused by her stupidly excited parents. Hubby got some pretty good shots.

Was a truely fab afternoon and we will definitely pop down again during the summer.

Looks like fun. Good photos! I'm not sure our tot would be keen. He gets a bit stressed by the blender and the vacuum 🙂

They are some lovely photos! Sprog gets equally as excited about 'areos' as he calls them and shouts very loudly at them! #TwinklyTuesday

Looks fab! I've never thought of going plane spotting! The airports here are a bit far away though, no idea where you can stand and watch either. A great idea though! 🙂 xx

We loved plane spotting when my brother and I were younger, and even today I always get excited when I see a plane taking off or landing! Great post and lovely read! Suz xx beauisblue.com

Planes for the win! It is always fun to watch the miracle of flight in action. Especially with the kids.

Oh we are of the trainspotting variety! Alfie = obsessed. My Mum and Dad take him down to the station on a Monday when they're here and they sit and watch the trains for over an hour, he then comes back and tells me all the different trains he's seen and where they are going or have been, he can name the electric (with cables) train. freight and diesel lol. Funny what they obsess over! 🙂 x

Glad you enjoyed your afternoon of plane spotting. We live fairly close to Heathrow and you can sometimes see the planes coming in from our local park. We're quite used to it now but my family are always fascinated by it whenever they come to visit!

We get loads of planes flying over our house and Zach is obsessed with them! Not quite as obsessed as he is with trains but would definitely love a trip to an airport! I remember when they came to pick me up from the airport last year but they'd not managed to get to where you could see planes – too big an airport! Looks like you had a fab time – not sure who enjoyed it more!! Thanks so much for linking up with #TwinklyTuesday
