Sometimes things that happen in life you couldn’t make up. Shit happens and usually we roll with in; what else can you do?
So when I saw signs on the gremlin’s door for chicken pox alerts a couple of weeks back it did register but not really! It wasn’t the first time and she missed the recent d and v sweep.
So when we arrived in Rhodes on Saturday and woke the next, noticing a few little spots around the gremlin’s forehead I thought it was due to the copious amounts of sun cream nursery slather on her. I’d had this gut feeling about the pox as she had been unsettled that night and I wanted to check her skin over but it was dark so we didn’t.
She’d had a cold (runny nose) over the last week but eaten really well and been fine.
I then noticed the small, yellow pustule on her left shoulder and knew it was the pox!! Mild panic turned to calm.
I spoke to a few friends who reassured me. She was getting it in exactly the same pattern as I did (hubby was very ill) but I had a cold and my mum found a spot on my neck in the bath. Soon I was covered and that was it. I had a week off school and remembered itching. Fine apart from that.
She has been a bit ratty and tired and wanted me a lot but eaten well and seemed quite perky. We have had to avoid the pool at all costs and this has been hard. But we did have a windy day which helped. They are scabbing over as I write so I know she is recovering and we are getting towards the non infectious part.
Think we will need a doctor’s note but we are here over a week longer so fingers crossed we can fly back. I have Brit Mum’s for a start!!
What fabulous timing eh? I’m glad we at here as I hear it’s raining at home and 2 weeks annual leave would have been cooped in our house!
Sod’s Law but we ok!
Wish us luck getting home!
