36 Weeks Pregnant – Bump Update

This could be my last update at 36 weeks pregnant. I was early with the gremlin going into labour at 39 weeks and 3 days. I do have a sneaky feeling this one may also be early but I’m not sure how much by! You can read my previous update here.

I had a little scare a couple of weeks ago as the midwife thought Piglet was breech! I wasn’t sure. She is coming back to see me on Monday for a home visit and to plan the birth. However, at the gremlin’s birthday party my oldest school friend who happens to be an obstetrician, had a feel. She assured me Piglet was head down, as I had suspected. In fact she could only feel her neck and shoulders, as the head was so low! My Mum got a good feel of the hip bones and her bum and we saw some really big kicking. Incredible really! Fingers crossed she doesn’t move and is ready to be born.

So how am I?

Symptoms at 36 Weeks Pregnant

Basically, when I overdo it (which I do a lot) or get a bad night’s sleep, I’m knackered. Kind of obvious really! The gremlin’s birthday (which was AMAZING and I will write about soon) wiped me out and we have had some early rises and night wakes. This has been hard. I am getting lots of Braxton Hicks and generally getting up and down to play with the gremlin is getting harder. I did have a bit of nausea a couple of weeks ago but that seemed to go; midwife thought a possible growth spurt when I saw her. I’m still getting some colostrum leakage. That’s about it really!

Food and Cravings

I don’t really think I have any. My appetite has cranked up again, especially in the mornings when at work but I reckon that’s the little chunk just getting fat now inside me. I’m still enjoying all foods but am fuller quicker. I just thank my lucky stars I don’t get heartburn or indigestion.

Exercise

Still going! I have slowed down with the frequency and as soon as I go on maternity leave I want to go swimming a few times. Piglet is really active during my sessions and wiggles all over. I do get some Braxton Hicks but nothing too bad. I must admit I am BORED. Exercising alone, the bike and cross trainer and sit down weights are starting to do my nut in. I’m looking forward to easing myself into it again slowly after Piglet comes and finally getting back to my usual High Intensity classes, spinning and Pump.

My Body

It’s not really changed much apart from the obvious increasing bump. I weighed myself again recently and had not gained much since my check a good while ago. Everything still fits around bum and legs; just not always the bump. Still don’t have any stretch marks and after reading some posts on some of the Facebook groups I follow, I am soooo grateful to have not suffered SPD or hip pain. I really feel for some of the girls, especially the ones with little ones already.

My Feelings at 36 Weeks Pregnant

Excited!! I really can’t wait for Piglet to come now. I want to meet her, see what she is like and looks like. I’m going to write a post on my thoughts on my second labour but at the moment it’s not really in my head. I have half packed my bags and I finish work on Friday. This is a really strange feeling. Another year out feels insane. I’m still pretty happy in my skin and feeling confident. Just a bit of a waiting game now.

The Gremlin

She has started to show a bit more interest in my bump now I’m 36 weeks pregnant and is willing to feel her sister’s feet and big movements. She talks a lot about her baby sister coming and what she wants to do and her little future plans (very cute). There is a lot of cuddling and kissing the bump as well. We have involved her as much as we can and still think it could go either way when her sister is born! I’m going to write a bit on what we have tried to do to prepare her (not lots really)!! I think the main thing is I have been spending time playing with her; she had a fab birthday and we have been giving her lots of love.

So there you have it.

Will I be back at 40 weeks??

Oh gosh how exciting not far along now. I really hope things go smoothly for you! I can’t believe you have continued going to the gym! I can’t even manage to go and I have no excuse haha. I think when we have other children, we’re just going to try and get Evie involved as much as possible, especially when other guests come to see the new baby, I don’t want her to feel left out and I’m sure your little one will feel the same, she will love it 🙂 #twinklytuesday

Wow, you look amazing! I didn’t do any exercise at all when I was pregnant, although did work a full time caring job up until 3 weeks before due date. I had horrendous heartburn also, had to sleep sitting up! #bestandworst

You’re doing so well for 36 weeks! I was seriously narked by that point and my bump was a lot smaller. That said – Piglet turned up at 36+2 so clearly I wasn’t feeling good for a reason haha I hope your last few weeks pass smoothly #bestandworst

Can’t believe you’re already 36 weeks – not long to go now! Lovely update and glad to hear that Piglet doesn’t appear to be breech after all. I’m so impressed that you’re still managing to keep up with exercise at this stage and I love that your little gremlin has been giving your bump kisses and cuddles and talking about her future plans with her little sister – I am sure she is going to be a wonderful big sister. #twinklytuesday

It sounds like you’re doing so well! I’m 30 weeks so it’s good to read forwards and see what I could expect. I can’t imagine being able to feel my baby’s body parts from a feel of the bump, it must be so weird! Good luck for the rest of your pregnancy, however long it may be! #bestandworst

You look fab and it’s been lovely seeing your bump growing. I had to take it easy throughout my pregnancy because of having a cervical stitch and I feel your pain. It was very boring just sitting on the exercise bike for 6 months but better than nothing. #bestandworst

She’s not breech! I’m so happy for you! All that worry for nothing. That baby is ready to meet her mommy. #bestandworst

Not long now. How exciting!! It will be interesting to see how Gremlin reacts to being a big sister, I just don’t think you can predict it. I’m a bit jealous you haven’t been getting heartburn, I got it so badly whilst I was pregnant, I should have taken out shares in Rennies!! Looking forward to your next update #bestandworst

I’m only 17 weeks and already can’t wait to get back to my pre-pregnancy exercise routine. I’m still running but I’m becoming much slower and it’s frustrating not being able to do my usual sit ups etc. So inconvenient!!! #bestandworst

It sounds like you and the little one are doing great! So glad she isn’t breech. Good luck in these final weeks. Hope you have a safe and easy delivery. #Bestandworst

That’s so sweet that your little girl is showing more interest, it’s cute the way they view things. I still can’t get over your exercising I think it’s brilliant and to be honest, probably why you’re in such good shape and not suffering with SPD. I’m so looking forward to a birth update but you never know we may have another bump update at 40 weeks! x #bestandworst

Ooh not long now! Sounds like everything’s going well. My first was born at 39 and 3 too. Second at 40 and 4. Not far past due date really & nowhere near overdue, but it felt like forever I think partly because I hadn’t reached the due date & the midwife appt & sweep the first time so it already felt late just by reaching DD! Still, after labour & delivery was under an hour & accidentally at home, I felt I should have complained less about how slow she was being – I think she took me too seriously! 😀 Good luck with it all!
