Summer Infant – Panorama Digital Color Video Monitor **REVIEW**

I have always wanted a baby monitor with a video. A friend of mine has one and she always told me how useful it was to see what her little girl was up to in her room when she was meant to be sleeping! We have a standard audio monitor but you do have to creep out of bed to have a nosey on my 6 month old when we think we hear her.

With all this in mind, I was really keen to see the new digital colour video monitor Summer Infant are releasing over in the UK.

This fabulous high resolution, colour 5 inch screen, displays also in night vision and shows the room temperature. The camera can tilt and zoom depending on what you would like the see and is brilliant if you have a moving baby. There is also a two way talk system, so you can hear what is going on but you can also talk to and try and soothe your baby. There is also a soft glow nightlight with two colours. The monitor is currently retailing at £149.99.

Hubby and I set up the monitor which was really simple. You literally just plug the camera in the nursery and position it where you like and plug the screen in. Voila, you are ready to go.

The monitor did exactly what is specified. We could see our little girl clearly as she slept and this did give reassurance, also saving us having to go and check on her.  I love the way it has a colour screen and this will be really useful when our little Piglet starts napping in her cot during the day (we are working on this!) The remote control is really good when needing to re-position the camera when your little one moves about. Hubby was really impressed with the screen resolution and the infra red light for night vision. We also liked the sound quality and being able to speak to our little one from the other room.

Hubby also enjoyed scaring me to death talking to me from room to room when I least expected it too! Oh what fun.

I also think it will be fantastic to take away on any trips or holidays where you are somewhere new and want that comfort that your little one is sleeping well.

The only negative was the microphone is always on and not sound sensitive like our current monitor, meaning you can hear a slight “hiss” all the time as the microphone picks up the sound. This wouldn’t bother a deep sleeper or if you kept it in the lounge.

Overall we were really impressed and the monitor does exactly what it specifies. It is practical, really useful and I think would really suit a first time family who just want that comfort their new little baby is sleeping and safe.

Highly recommended!

This sounds great. I’d love a video monitor just to spy on Pops!! Thanks for hosting #bestandworst

This looks fantastic. My burning question is, is it worth the £149.99? We already have most things we need for baby number two from Henry, so anything I want to buy needs to be highly considered. I’d love to know what you think compared to what you used with Gremlin x #bestandworst

Wow this looks awesome, I bought a cheap one and it wasn’t really worth it as the monitor kept freezing! #bestandworst

Hi, this looks like a great monitor to try. I can imagine most partners trying to scare their other halfs with it as a joke as well #bestandworst

This is great if you’ve got a large house and can afford it. It’s quite pricey! Our house was so tiny we never needed the baby monitor at all. We could hear the Tubblet wherever we were!

we only had an audio monitor and there were many times that I wish we had video. I would have liked a peek into what was actually going on in there #bestandworst
