School Stress

school stress

Since the gremlin has started school I feel like I am the one back in school! There is so much flipping stuff to remember and it’s fairly constant. There is such a thing as school stress for parents.

I feel at the moment I have more things to remember for her than I do for myself, work and the blog all combined and frankly, I feel like my head is going to explode as a school Mum!

Just this week I have had to remember:

– Something for the Christmas hamper x 2
– Lines to learn for the school play
– Books to return and comments about them in a little book, as well as time to read for them.
– A Christmas decoration to make at home.
– Something for kindness week

School Stress!

Has anyone else lost track?!

I know it’s the time of year. It’s Christmas and there is a lot going on. It’s exciting and of course the school want the kids to gets involved. I also understand it is probably very important to try and get the gremlin to start remembering some of her own things but she’s only four and I can barely get her to pick her dirty socks up and put them in the washing basket!

I’m also feeling a tad guilty at present as I haven’t volunteered to help out with anything yet but I genuinely don’t feel I have the bandwidth for my brain to expand any further.

I was warned this was what school was like. ‘Mummy homework’ one of my mates described it as and that’s exactly what it feels like. Hubby doesn’t remember anything at all and I have to be totally on the ball. This means actually reading the newsletter or frantically asking the other girls in the Whatsapp group what’s going on.

It’s such a pressure, as I don’t want to let the gremlin down. We all remember what it’s like as a kid when you are the only one not going on a trip or the only one to have forgotten to bring cakes in for the sale. Whatever. If you don’t have it you are the odd one out!! Also I don’t want to look like the shit mum who forgets everything!! I’m sure the teachers talk just as you would do in any other job!!

I’m trying to get organised and this seems to mean a lot of lists and planning when I’m going to get all of it done. Lists have become my new best friend (as well as my neighbour who tells me about everything!)

When you have kids, those first few weeks and months seem like the hardest times but no trust me!! The challenge just continues, it’s just a different challenge. Your kids may sleep but instead they need you to devise random Christmas decorations, when you are as far from being a Pinterest Mum as my daughter is from loving fruit.

I’m sure I’ll get there so will get my homework done and just wait for the next newsletter and the next thing I have to prepare for.

Watch this space!!

    hehehe! Welcome to school life….
There is so much to remember when the kids are at school. Now that I don’t pick them up from I have to question them and hunt out any letters that may be in the bottom of their bags to find out what’s going on…
    Good luck x

Ah this is gonna be us next year. Although my son goes to pre-school now so I sort of get it now. It’s the letters that stress me out, there’s always some request or something I need to know – seemingly every day! I seriously need to get more organised! #bloggersbest

Oh I feel your pain. Despite being jobless I am decorating Ella’s room and trying to keep track of the homework she has to to do, after school clubs and panto rehearsals, actual panto dates and dates I’m chaperoring, organising the school PTA tea towel and just being a mum! And Paul wonders why I kept getting muddled between the day of his car service and physio! Thanks for choosing my post and for hosting as always! #bloggersbest x

If you can organise a weekly linky with all us bloggers, you’ve got this lady. Create yourself a fabulous scrapbook inspired calendar chart and own the Mummy Homework. There is a business within that somewhere. Renee #bloggersbest

My head is full to bursting point at the moment it really is! I have little notes dotted around and when I go to bed I am thinking of things and even this morning the first thing I did was so oh bugger as I realised that I’m double booked again today! Next year I’ll be more organised!!;)

Hahaha I’m THAT teacher probably! However, I’m also a mum so I get it! It’s tricky……my child once came home in year 7 saying they had to make The Globe Theatre….wtf! Why oh why would some teacher set that! Needless to say he was really cross when his cereal box theatre was not on display next to the wooden one that some engineering dad had made! Advice? Go with the flow and sod Pinterest, that’s what the pound shop is for! Buy, never make homemade!
    Enjoy! #bloggersbest

I seem to have so many plates spinning at the moment that I have dropped a few (missed a maths meeting 🙁 ) In 6 months I will have an infant school, junior school and preschool to keep track of plus my 3 jobs and blog! #bloggersbest
