Wrecked!!

This week’s word has to be wrecked and no not the drunken kind.

Me.

I feel wrecked; like a complete wreck. So many things seem wrong this week and I know the majority are linked to the post partum period.

As I was crying over my breakfast on Wednesday (I kid not) hubby shoved my smiling little Piglet into my face and I didn’t know whether to kiss the little munch or shove her in the garage. I love the little bean but she hasn’t half got a lot to answer for.

Last Friday, whilst already full of cold,  I woke to a stabbing pain in the right boob which I thought was due to Piglet sleeping through and her needing a feed. There was no relief after her feed and on closer inspection I saw a red blotch and my gut feeling was it was mastitis. One swift trip to the GP confirmed this and I was started on a week’s dose of flucloxacillin. Evil antibiotics! The mastitis cleared up in 48 hours but the gut side effects have been rubbish, reflux and nausea and generally feeling just blah. The lowest since I gave birth and this is not like me at all.

My psoriasis has flared up like a bitch and my head has been very itchy and my elbows look really angry. I have also broken out in spots and I know this is hormones.

The icing on the cake was Tuesday afternoon and led to crying over my cereal!! Four years ago on honeymoon I tore my knee cartilage monkeying around on Muscle Beach in LA. Fast forward to the birth of the gremlin and I had surgery on this 6 months later with a long rehab. Perhaps I have had a sixth sense but I have been very cautious around this knee, especially with Operation 6 pack in full force. So to my utter dismay I knelt down to change Piglet’s nappy to feel a stabbing pain through the knee and lingering tenderness. Dr Google and some advice from the family physio is suggestive of a repeat injury, possibly not helped by my relaxed joints post Piglet. Gutted is not the word. In the grand scheme of things this is nothing major; a dodgy knee! Come on? But exercise takes me away from being “Mummy”for short times through the week. It defines me. I enjoy it and it’s a fab mood booster. Perhaps posting pics of my fitness regime was a bit too much pride comes before a fall?

I’m seeing a physio on Friday for an assessment and can continue with low impact and upper body in the meantime but I’m a nut for thinking worst case scenario! I’m praying I don’t need surgery again and all will be fine with some strengthening and rehab. I’m really hoping!!

So there we go. Wrecked is the right word, don’t you think?
