Happy 4 Months Piglet

My little munch is 4 months old! This week’s word therefore is milestone as it is another one. As I type this the little cutie has crashed out in her cot. She had her 16 week vaccinations today and they seemed to hit her a little harder than the previous two sets. She has slept a lot, fed less and was very tearful; not like her at all!

So how how she been doing?

Feeding

Breastfeeding continues I am happy to say. No real changes! Like her sister, there is no routine to it. We have had some really hungry days and hourly feeding. Other days, it can be longer. Her final feed before bed seems longer and she can go for up to 45 minutes. At 4 months I can see her watching us eating and although weaning is a little way off yet, I’m excited to see how she gets on. We haven’t really needed the bottle recently. Piglet is so different, in the respect she can be distracted from a feed and if I am at the gym, she holds off. As her bedtime isn’t static yet, we haven’t risked a date night, as we managed with the gremlin.

Sleeping

So we have hit 4 months and sleeping is the same really. Piglet does tend to sleep between 7.30-8.30pm and wakes once a night. The time can vary. It has crept back a little and since moving her to her cot(!) it has been a little earlier; some 2ams or 4.30ams. The naps are the same; 30 minute naps, 3-4 times a day. Moving Piglet to her cot was fine. She was still on her special mattress but slid off it two nights in a row so we ditched it and put her straight in the cot in her sleeping bag. There have been no problems yet, some nights she feeds to sleep, other nights she self settles.  No clue if it will continue but as always, happy to go with the flow and enjoy the good.

Milestones

Grabbing and lots of it. She is stuffing everything in her mouth and this is so different to her sister but no signs of teeth yet or obvious discomfort. She has also found her legs, again sooo different from the gremlin. She is happy to stand for a little while if we hold her hands. She loves to shout and smile but not lots of laughing yet. We are also holding her up sitting, to strengthen her little back. I think the gremlin is dying for her to sit up.

Life as a Family of Four

Better since Christmas! The gremlin was hard work in December and I hated feeling so niggly with her. Hubby struggled too. I think, looking back she was just so excited for Christmas. Since this finished, nursery has resumed and we have gone back to our usual routine it has become much easier. We have had some lovely weekends together and I have enjoyed my 3 days with just the 2 of them. I get the usual not listening and the gremlin is rough with her sister but she is really helpful and can distract her when I am showering for example.

How Am I Doing?

Last month I was actually doing a lot worse then I wrote. Anxious, low and stressed. I think a few ailments, hormone changes (as my hair is falling out everywhere now) and Christmas were a bit much for me. It took it’s toll. I hid it well I’ve been told but I just wanted to be at home for the whole festive period. Thankfully January hit, my knee improved, the gremlin started to behave a bit better and my mood just lifted. Thank goodness! Any family or friends reading this who I confided in, thanks lots. The invites to lunch, messages and chats helped me a lot at the time. I’m just hoping now to throw myself into some more high intensity exercise now I am 4 months post partum.

I can’t believe she will be 5 months old next time and we will be thinking about food soon!!
