Happy 5 Months Piglet

I can’t believe the next update I will be writing will be confirming my little Piglet has been on the planet for 1/2 a year. This will also mean I am also 7 months into my maternity leave, which I am loving at the moment!

My little munch is 5 months old and this is how she has been getting on.

The newborn easiness has GONE! No more lying in front of the telly all day with a sleeping or feeding baby. No more getting all the chores done. I now have a baby who does not want to be left alone/left lying down/left in the bouncer. The jumparoo is good when she is fed and well rested and she enjoys the baby gym and her toys but her favourite place is in someone’s arms or standing up and spitting everywhere!!

Feeding

I’m pleased to say the breastfeeding is still going well. She has her hungry days, where there is some hourly feeding and some piggy puking but mainly she is every 2 hours or so during the day. It’s crazy to think the weaning is starting soon. She has already had a gum of some raw carrot and broccoli and seemed to enjoy. As she is almost sitting up unaided and grabbing everything off us and shoving into her mouth, we don’t think she us far off. I would like to do a bit more finger food this time but I don’t think she will be fully baby-led weaned. I like feeding them little meals!

Sleeping

*Says very quietly* –  no real changes! Piglet tends to bath with me and gremlin and feeds from 6.50ish to 7.30pm. She then goes down in her cot and can sleep from anything to 2am or 6am. She will feed and go back down if still in the night. I have no clue if this will change when her teeth are coming through properly but as I always say; I’m making the most of it. Daytime naps are pretty naff in comparison; 3 x 30 mins and I get bugger all done. She is getting harder to get to sleep if in the house too; car seat, the buggy and feeding to sleep seem to work the best!

Milestones

So much standing up. Piglet loves to be on her feet all the time. We have had some unaided sitting and she likes to be sat with my breast feeding pillow as a support. She has found her feet and loves to chew them. We haven’t had a full roll over yet though. She is almost there but prefers to roll back onto her back. She is smiling tonnes and giggling. It is a lovely age.

Life as a Family of Four

This continues to be good. It is a total cliche that your second just slots in; but she has! We have a good routine with both the kids and the love between them is so obvious. We are managing to get out and about a lot; seeing family, friends, eating out, swimming and just chilling at home. The gremlin can completely do our heads in at some points, especially when she is too rough with her little sister, distracts her from feeding and is just so LOUD! Piglet is a complete delight to be around and she seems to love being with us too.

How Am I Doing?

Apart from my knee playing up again (nooooo) after some running, I am doing well. I was loving all the exercise and felt I was really back into it but obviously need to take it a little easy at the moment. I am mentally still feeling better and enjoying my time with the girls. My maternity leave will be over so soon and I know I need to make the most of it. I was offered some CBT when I felt a little shaky over Christmas and am still waiting for that to come through. I think, despite feeling better, I may still go as we all need a bit of mental help sometimes!

I still can’t believe little Piglet is 6 months old on the next update!!

See you then.
