Nope…my baby is not a Boy

I have two little girls. Anyone who reads my blog knows this. For quite a few anonymous bypassers however, I have a girl and a boy.

Yes, quite a lot of people think little Piglet is a boy.

“How old is he?”

“Is he walking yet?”

To the gremlin, “…..your brother.”

These are some of the innocent comments I have had and I never know what to say. I should do the polite thing really and just nod and smile and move on. I just can’t. Every time I smile and say, “it’s a she.” I’m usually then faced with an apology and a bit of a red face!

Then I have to apologise back, as to be fair she is usually dressed in something “not pink”.

It’s a tricky one. The ways things are at the moment with the concept of gender neutral being pushed in some areas like kid’s toys and clothes, should I care? Does it matter if my little girl looks like a boy?

Well, you know it must do as I wouldn’t be writing this post.

I’m not a girly girl really. The gremlin was always dressed in jeans and leggings, as a younger child. Her amazing mop of dark hair made it unquestionable that she was a girl, however. As she has grown up, she has started to pick out her own clothes and it’s all about the dresses and skirts. I have to wrestle her into jeans in this freezing weather.

I guess I have followed suit with little Piglet. She is wearing a lot of the gremlin’s hand me downs and she has some of her own clothes, that you could argue are very gender neutral.

Even though she suits a lovely pastel pink a lot more than her eldest sister, I rarely dress her in pink or dresses for that matter. It’s not the most practical of colours and dresses don’t work all the time on a one year old.

So it seems until my little second born starts to grow a little more hair and if I keep dressing her in jeans a green tee, many people are going to think the little beauty is a boy.

There’s not a lot of point to this post really is there?

Just to let you know, nope, she’s not a boy!
