Don’t get me wrong, I love being pregnant. I really hate to moan too much as cliche as it may be, it is a privilege and I do feel really lucky everyday. However, there is one think I am really missing and that is SHOPPING!
More specifically clothes shopping. One of my favourite things is a shopping trip with my Mum. Tea and scones in Druckers to start with, a good shop and then a cheeky glass of wine to ensure I buy something I shouldn’t with my sudden giddiness. Those trips may be on hold for a little while again.
I’m one of those people who buys stuff, tends to get some good wear out of it and has a good spring clean each year. I then go through my clothes and shoes, give some to my friend and give some to the charity shops. Before I had the gremlin I loved browsing through the magazines to see what was coming up for the next season fashions. I never necessarily followed everything to the letter but there were some things I remember loving!
Who remembers when every girl in the entire UK had a gypsy skirt?!
I even managed a couple of the crop tops (prior to pregnancy) and I’m currently loving some of the skirts in the shops at the moment (I can’t wear any of course!).
I do like to try and keep up with fashion a little as it does make me feel a little old before my time if I stop caring or way too Mumsy and this just isn’t me! The pic below is me at 23 weeks with the gremlin, shopping and still in normal clothes. I love how my hair is done…I never have time now.
Being pregnant really makes things a bit tricky. With the gremlin, we had a hot summer and I lived in these rather horrific long stretchy dresses. They were comfy, cool and covered the bump. The pink monstrosity below is an example!
However, I looked longingly at the crop tops and denim shorts and hankered after a shopping spree for the whole pregnancy. I only bought one maternity dress for a wedding as I was cheap and had a smaller bump.
I’m not an expensive shopper at all. I love the cheaper places, am not into designer shops and love a good sale. House of Fraser currently have a great one running that is worth having a nosey at. I’m hoping to find something I can stretch over the bump. This is always a challenge!
I can tell you one thing. As soon as this piglet is born and I have lost my bump I’ll be hitting those shops!
