The Field Toy – REVIEW

the field

AD – Sometimes when I look at some of the toys my gremlin has I understand why she loved them when she got them but lost interest after. There are so many too. The novelty does just wear off. My eldest loves all the surprise toys that are on the market at the moment but once you have opened them, unless they are brilliant to play with, the best bit is over!! I prefer things that she and her baby sister can go back to and play with again and again. With a product like The Field Toy, I think they will.

More About The Field Toy

These toy field products came from a simple request from a three year old boy wanting a field to graze his animals. His Dad then handcrafted a realistic model toy field complete with hedging and traditional timber gate. Such a simple toy that was popular with family and friends.

The idea then grew after watching the children using the toy fields for their farm games, football matches with Lego. Their imaginations really ran wild!

The model toy field offers a refreshing approach to the toy market, a simply elegant handcrafted Irish toy, where a child’s imagination is the only prop needed to create hours of inspired play for children. This quote is directly from website and I have to agree.

There are now a wide varieties of field products including a Half-Acre field, getting bigger in size and field number, right up to the Ultimate Collection.

What Were We Sent?

We were sent a Half-Acre Field and I couldn’t help thinking it was good timing, as Piglet has just had her third birthday and received some other toys that would be great with her field. The gremlin was fascinated as was artificial grass like she has at school!

These retail at 24.99 Euros and measures 32 x 44 x 6 cm. It comes complete with Certificate of Title, realistic hedging, meadow and traditional wooded farm gate.

It is recommended for ages 3 and over.

Our Thoughts?

I’ll admit I was a bit taken aback when I saw the product, as it was literally a toy field. This is a stupid thing to say but it’s the truth. But I then realised there were so many games the girls could play with their little figures and house toys. I really liked the little wooden gate too!

My girls were fascinated and we all started to have some ideas of what games we could play. Piglet had had a Peppa Pig camper van for her birthday, which came with a tent. The Field was perfect was setting up camp and playing with her Peppa characters.

We played together for ages and then when Piglet’s elder sister came home from school they carried on with their games too! It really captured their imagination.

The girls don’t actually have any farm animals in their toy collection, as shown on the toy box but they have so many other little toys to make games up. Camping, parks, houses, sports, dancing, a huge field for gymnastics…the list really does go on.

I love how the Field Toy is crafted with the artificial grass and you do feel you are playing with something that will last a long time and can be shared. It feels like a wholesome toy, if that makes sense, as encourages imaginative play and creativity.

I love seeing and listening to my girls when they start their little games and the Field helps to enhance that.

Overall I think the Field Toy is a really good toy to have in a collection. It’s all too easy to buy loads of things for your kids and they lose interest but this is something that can be put away and got out so many times, for so many different games.

Definitely consider this Christmas!
