If your kids are like my kids, anything cute fluffy and a surprise is a sure hit! They love opening toys, looking after them and playing their imaginative games. I’m lucky as my girls do play quite nicely together and they do enjoy each other’s company. We are not newbies when it comes to Scruff-a-luvs. My eldest has had couple in the past and we have reviewed Scruff-a-luvs Blossom Bunnies on the blog before. My middle girly would be new to them and was pretty excited when her elder sister was telling her all about them! We were keen to get involved when offered the chance the review the new Scruff-a-Luvs Friends, Jungle and Babies ranges from Moose Toys.
Scruff-a-luvs are a very cute cuddly toy with the “blind bag” aspect to them. You are never sure which animal you will get and they are lovely to do with your kids. I didn’t realise this but Scruff-a-Luvs are inspired by the heart-warming social videos of homeless, scruffy pets being adopted, cared for and brought back to health and happiness. I learnt this with this review – how lovely!
You open the box to reveal a “ball” and some accessories. You then have to wash your scruffy pal and dry them and are left with a soft toy for your little one to love.
Scruff-a-luvs Friends
New Scruff-a-luvs Friends now feature a dog, cat or horse. As with all Scruff-a-luvs you have to wash and dry to reveal your character! They come with a brush and clip and adoption certificate.

Scruff-a-luvs Jungle

These cute Scruff-a-luvs come wrapped in vine leaves for you to unwrap and you may reveal a Lion, Parrot or Monkey. Each character comes with an adoption certificate and a clip. You can see this above.
Scruff-a-luvs Spring Babies
These Scruff-a-Luvs Spring Babies look so cute and are like a smaller version of the Scruff-a-luvs.
These are limited edition and feature a chick, a lamb and a bunny. You reveal your character by removing the dummy and brushing and rubbing their fur. These are available at Smyths and The Entertainer.
Testing The Products
I made sure my girls had got out and had some fresh air before we got together to do the Scruff-a-luvs. My eldest picked the Friends, my middle girly the Jungle release.
Both were excited to see which character they would reveal.
My eldest went first, as she wanted to show her younger sister what Scruff-a-luvs were all about. As you can see she pulled out a purply-pink ball and we got a bowl of warm water and a bit of shampoo for her to watch her Scruff-a-luvs Friends.
She was so excited to reveal a dog! My eldest has had bunnies before in the past, so this character was something new for her.
You can see she really enjoyed washing and brushing her character and then of course wrapping it up and drying it. This process is pretty easy. The character easily comes apart with water.
After this, we took her Scruff-a-luvs Friends into the bedroom and used my hairdryer to start the drying process off. You can completely try it this way but we tend to dry it off a little and then let it air dry afterwards. It is usually ok the next day. We sometimes but it on the radiator if it’s on.
We tested out the Scruff-a-luvs Babies when we were out for a walk. The girls have started taking toys with them when we go out. As were going to the woods most days, it can get a bit samey, so they do need to mix it up a little!
You simply open the cage to reveal a small Scruff-a-Luv with a flowery dummy in its mouth.
This is pulled out to reveal the character and you can also brush it.
Our Thoughts
My girls really enjoyed revealing, washing and drying their Scruff-a-luvs. My younger daughter revealed the Parrot from the Jungle collection. You can see the vines on the sink, she had pulled off when revealing her character.
She loved washing and revealing it but needed me to help her dry it with the hair dryer. She is only three, so a little younger.
Scruff-a-luvs are exactly what they sound like. Cuddly, scruffy toys for your children to love. I think the surprise and reveal element goes down really well and makes the product exciting.
They loved the new characters from the Friends and Jungle collection: my eldest was desperate for the dog and that’s what she got.
I have to say the toys are scruffy and you do have to spend some time brushing and fluffing them up but the girls were not too bothered with that aspect. You also have to wait for them to dry, unless happy to use a hair dryer for the whole process, so this can take a little while. My girls were quite patient, so this was fine.
Price-wise you are paying £19.99 for a soft toy but it comes with some lovely accessories and I think you are paying for the surprise aspect too. It’s not just a soft toy but comes with a fun process and this is also fun to do with your kids, if having time together. Just bear the price in mind.
The Scruff-a-luvs Spring Babies were cute and we gave one to a friend who loved his gift but the girls were way more enamoured with the Scruff-a-luvs Friends and Jungle. I think when my eldest goes back to school, she will clip hers to her bag, as her friends all love a good keyring.
My youngest was a little young for them perhaps, as my eldest seemed to enjoy opening more. I think once they were opened she wasn’t sure what to do with it. I think for children who like collectables and keyring, these are great. You can use the cage to play with too, once you have opened your Scruff-a-Luvs babies.
Overall we really enjoyed being introduced to the new Scruff-a-Luvs ranges. The new characters went down really well and they girls have played with their cuddly friends a lot over the last week.
With some birthdays in lockdown right now, they would make a lovely gift but also something to do with your kids. Yes, they are a bit scruffy but with some loving brushing, they are pretty cute.
