Pile Up Pirates Game by Tomy – REVIEW | AD

When I was a kid I used to love my games. I must admit I was never a strategic game kind of person, so Monopoly and Scrabble used to bore me a bit but games where you “do” something I loved. Even now, I’d much rather play a fast quiz game like Articulate or when I was younger Pop Up Pirate. My eldest has the game and we have played it loads. It’s just hysterical when the Pirate Pops Up and makes you jump! Can you imagine my joy to realise there was another Pirate game from Tomy – Pile up Pirates!!

This is the first post in a few reviews of some fantastic products I was gifted from Tomy this Christmas. As you can see below we were very lucky!

More About Pile Up Pirates

Playing The Game

My eldest and I sat down one Saturday afternoon when her baby brother was asleep. Pile Up Pirates is really easy to set up and the instructions pretty easy to follow.

The aim of the game is to stack your coloured pirates on top of one another carefully, without them toppling over.

You can play alone or with up to 4 people and it’s recommended at ages 5 plus.

You can choose “easy” or “hard” mode by rotating the platform clockwise to easy mode and anti-clockwise to hard mode. We started out on easy mode.

My eldest and I picked our colours and the youngest goes first. You place the large pirate on the platform. You can use the planks to separate the layers of pirates when stacking them up or not bother; it’s up to you!

You then take it in turns stacking your pirates and the winner is the first to get rid of all their coloured pirates or the games ends if someone knocks them down!

Our Thoughts

We really enjoyed Playing Pile up Pirates and I have to say it was more tricky than I thought!! Even on the easy level, I found we were knocking over the pirates quite a bit. It was quite tactical! There were lots of laughs and giggles when it fell down.

We liked playing it as individuals to try and get the stack really big! We also found the planks easier to use to make the pirates taller.

It was quite skilled as we had to look at where and how we were placing the pirates to get them to balance. Using the harder level was of course, more tricky!

I was quite impressed with Pile up Pirates and I think it will be a great family game or for friends and siblings to play together.

Pile up Pirates retails at £13 and you can find in on Amazon and from Argos. Definitely worth a look this Christmas.
