Best Holiday Activities for Energetic Kids

Best Holiday Activities for Energetic Kids

Disclosure – this is a collaborative post.

Keeping the kids entertained on holiday isn’t always the easiest task. If they’re endlessly energetic and you’re looking for a more restorative, calming experience, finding something for everyone all the time just isn’t possible.

However, if you can find the right family activity holiday and tire them out during the day, at least you can relax in the evenings while enjoying some peace and quiet. Here are some of the best activities to burn off some of that youthful energy while you’re away.

Tennis

Tennis is a great choice for the whole family. It helps to burn energy, improve coordination and gets your blood pumping which can boost cardiovascular health. But it’s fantastic for a holiday activity because it’s suitable for all ages and abilities, while equipment is relatively inexpensive and easily hired.

If you’re going somewhere in the sun, tennis is a lovely way to soak up the rays. Just make sure you and the kids wear enough sun cream and drink plenty of water!

Mountain biking

For an adrenaline-pumping activity that can be tailored to different abilities, mountain biking offers something exciting for parents and kids. You’ll have the chance to explore your destination in a different way, navigate tricky trails and terrains, and test your technique. But, most importantly, your kids can burn through their energy for the day.

Wearing a helmet is a must, while knee and elbow pads are strongly recommended for kids to help avoid nasty bumps and scrapes.

Rock climbing

Finding somewhere that offers safe and supported rock climbing is great for a family holiday. Scaling man-made walls or natural boulders is challenging but helps to build strength and endurance. With the safety of a fall mat or harness, your kids can test their limits and tire themselves out in a relatively short space of time.

Again, helmets are essential and climbing should never take place without fall protection.

Kayaking and paddleboarding

For a fun-filled family adventure on the water, kayaking and paddleboarding offer similar experiences in different ways. They both test balance and technique but are enjoyable ways to explore nearby seas, rivers and lakes. You can take things at your own pace and let the kids explore as they wish within your sight.

With life jackets for safety, jumping in the water and having a splash about is always fun for little ones, and sometimes even adults. Furthermore, it should help to burn off even more energy!

Choosing the right activities on your family holiday helps to give you time to settle down and relax in the evenings. See what works for you and your kids!
