Turkey’s Not Just For Christmas: 5 Reasons I’d Love To Visit Istanbul

Disclosure – this is a collaborative post.

You’re probably still sick of turkey meat following the busy Christmas period. Thankfully, the other type of Turkey can take that off our minds. If you’re looking for the perfect holiday destination in 2020, the Turkish capital of Istanbul is a prime candidate.

Here are just five of the reasons why it’s only my bucket list of places to visit at some stage.

Cost

Let’s face it; the financial aspects have a huge impact on our holiday choices. Istanbul is nearly 4 hours from London by air, but remains relatively cheap to reach. Meanwhile, you can learn about the affordable visas at https://www.evisumservice.be/. Hotels are competitively priced while the cost of food, entertainment, and other items is pleasing too.

While it’s true that you can’t put a price on happiness, grabbing a bargain will always add an extra degree of happiness. Whether it’s a long weekend or a fortnight, Istanbul is a great choice.

Culture

Travelling the world is a chance to embrace different cultures. Istanbul is arguably the greatest destination in the world to facilitate this. It is the city of two continents, with the Bosporus Strait splitting the European and Asian areas. The distinct flavours of each side create a truly unique destination that can be enjoyed by people of all backgrounds.

Istanbul is also a city that combines historic architecture and culture with modern attractions. This ensures that you can squeeze many activities into one trip.

Climate

The weather can make a significant difference to your holiday experience. Istanbul enjoys warm and dry summers while the sunsets create a romantic vibe. The winters are cold and wet but avoid extreme temperatures. You can find out more at https://www.greatistanbul.com/climate.html. However, the general climate is agreeable for most, including families with kids.

I don’t personally think that great weather is a deal-breaker, but it does take the city’s appeal to a greater level. The fact that Istanbul is blessed with a good climate should not be ignored.

Cuisine

Good food is a holiday highlight for all holidaymakers. Istanbul is blessed with an array of great options. The street food is heralded among the best in the world while the authentic Turkish delights and Baklava will satisfy your sweet tooth. The blend of east and west is evident in the restaurants too while this is also the spiritual home of kebabs. There’s something for all.

The domestic beers and alcoholic beverages are widely accepted as some of the best in Europe and Asia too. If you’re like me, you’ll probably regret stepping on the scales after. But it’s so worth it.

Convenience

Last but not least, the fact that Turkey is a convenient place to visit is ideal. As mentioned the visa requirements are a lot simpler than many Asian territories. Meanwhile, the volume of lights means you can avoid the worst airlines. When added to the fact most people speak English, it is one of the most convenient places to visit.

More importantly, it serves as one of the most exciting and interesting destinations too. Istanbul is great for sport, music, sunbathing, sightseeing, and history. What’s not to love…
