It’s been a busy week pregnancy wise. I have had my whooping cough jab, Anti D jab (I’m rhesus negative), my 28 week bloods and a midwife appointment! Phew! Luckily my lovely friend had the gremlin whilst I did some of these piglet jobs.
All went fine apart from 2 slightly sore arms. Baby is head down (yay!) and I’m hoping she doesn’t move. The gremlin was from 28 weeks so fingers crossed. I have to send my wee off for a check as had some leucocytes in it but I feel ok, so hopefully just fighting off the gremlin’s snotty nose. I also had another look around the birth unit where I had the gremlin which was so surreal! Think must have been such a blur at the time. It was nice telling the gremlin where she was born and showing her the birth pool. Hoping piglet can be born there too.
But how are things generally?
Symptoms at 24 Weeks Pregnant
Tiredness has kicked in a little and I will be writing a post about slowing down a bit soon. My Holiday in Rhodes was relaxing but coming back home to 2 days in London for amazing Brit Mums Live 16 and then going back to work with a conference was knackering. I have shed a few tears over the last week or so and been very relieved to get a few sleep ins as the gremlin has slept well.
I am also getting a lot of Braxton Hicks when I exercise, walk or stand for too long and sometimes if I have a big meal. I was the same with the gremlin so not too worried.
I still have the feeling someone is hanging a weight from my twinkle when I sit for too long and then stand but it’s manageable. Likely a bit of mild SPD.
Food and Cravings
I continue to love my food and eating but I can safely say the scoffing has slowed down for the last few weeks. I managed a lot on holidays (!) but have calmed down since being home. You are only supposedly meant to need an extra 200kcals a day in the last trimester anyway!
Running around and doing excessive cardio is getting tricky now due to Braxton’s and the size of the bump at 28 weeks pregnant so I have had to knock some circuit classes on the head. I can still train alone in the gym and use the machines. Body Pump is fine still and I have dropped my weights for some exercises now; especially chest, where I didn’t realise how much you use your abs doing the track! I managed a Body Combat class at the weekend but was told to avoid any rotating movement when punching so this was great!
I’ll keep at it until I have to stop. 12 weeks to go!
I haven’t weighed myself in a while, as didn’t really see the point. In fact no one has weighed me for a while! I don’t feel I have gained much more fat on my bum and legs but my bump is obviously getting bigger. I can’t see any stretch marks yet but there is still time. I am still feeling happy and confident in myself and I hope this continues.
My Feelings at 28 Weeks Pregnant
I am feeling ok still. More excited about meeting our second little girly!! I’m expecting another clone of the gremlin so I will be the only ginger in the vicinity. Can’t wait to see. We need to sort her room out and finish the gremlin’s. I have sorted a few old grows and vests out and we need to get a few things out of the garage in the next couple of months. I am scared about being tired and ratty when she’s born but it’s such a short time in the grand scheme of things and I will be accepting help if we need it.
Things haven’t really changed with the stinker at all. She sometimes loves and kisses the bump and seems really excited. Other times, she doesn’t want me to feel piglet moving and pushes my top down. Usually when I interrupt the time we have together, so I will try and stop this really and let her be interested when she wants to be. Hubby and I are expecting her to be a little funny, so will be ready. I hope we are pleasantly surprised and she is really helpful and loving to her sister; as she is to us.
