Sharing a Meal Together as a Family – the #PrezzoLaFamiglia Challenge

Who doesn’t love a buffet-style meal? Food out on the table. A fight with your family for the best stuff and seeing who can wolf down their meal the quickest, ready for launching into seconds.

When we were invited by Brit Mums to try Prezzo’s fabulous new La Famiglia dish sharing pasta bowl dish, my family were sold. We all adore Italian food.

The Prezzo restaurant chain has more than 280 restaurants across the UK  and are pleased to have launched The La Famiglia dishes, designed with sharing in mind. Forget staring at the menu not having a clue what to pick and stealing a bit of your partner’s when they nip to the loo! The La Famiglia dishes take away all this stress.

There are four tempting large pasta dishes to choose from including Spaghetti Bolognaise, Penne Arrabiatta, Spaghetti Carbonara and Penne Alla Rusticana.

Our Experience

The gremlin will almost pick spaghetti bolognaise over fish and chips, so we knew what dish we were picking before we even set foot in the door. The experience also including 2 large garlic breads, 4 soft drinks and 4 single ice-creams.

We visited our local Shirley Prezzo on a Saturday at lunchtime. It was quiet, bright and airy. Perfect for families, especially an 8 month old and 3 year old with ants in her pants. The service was quick and friendly.

We ordered 2 diet Cokes, an orange juice and another diet Coke later on and our two garlic breads came out as starters. These were a perfect size, as I often find eating too much bread, ruins the main meal.

Our family are pretty good at sharing. I’m a steady eater but have not always been like this!! In the past I would have picked a huge portion and gone back for seconds quickly but after too many tummy aches, (!) I tend to take my time and watch how much I eat. However, if it’s staring at me, I’m a picker so you may want to move the sharing plate away from my reach!

The gremlin is similar but is getting much better at telling us when she is full. Little Piglet is only 8 months so she is an expert at sharing and stopping when her little tummy has had enough.

My husband on the other hand? Flipping human dustbin. Bottomless pit. Hoover. He probably doesn’t like wasting food so it was safe to say, almost the entire bowl of delicious Spaghetti Bolognaise was annihilated.

The sharing experience was lovely. The gremlin and I couldn’t resist re-enact the old Lady and the Tramp spaghetti scene. It was good being able to pick what you wanted and I found I probably ate a little less than having a big bowl to myself. The bolognaise was very tasty and tomatoey and all 4 of us really enjoyed the meal. It was fun sharing the food, there was less worry about mess (and there was mess) and there was a lot of eating directly out of the main dish. I’m sure it tastes nicer than off your plate. Don’t you agree?

The gremlin finished in record speed and was asking for her ice-cream. We chose chocolate, vanilla and salted chocolate. All were really delicious and a perfect portion size to finish the meal off.

We had a lovely family meal together.

Sharing, chatting and enjoying the food.

What more do you want from a meal out as a family?

I am the same as you – I will take a portion and eat until I’m full…..and then continue to pick at it until you just move it away from me! It looks fab though – not sure if we’d go for bolognese or carbonara
