How to Enjoy the August Bank Holiday

How to Enjoy the August Bank Holiday

This is a collaborative post.

The August Bank holiday is always a big hit and miss with the weather. My gremlin’s birthday falls around that time and now we are often planning something for her. In past years we have had bbqs and even a bouncy castle in the garden for her. Sometimes there has been rain and other times sunshine and a lot of heat.

I love a good bank holiday, as my hubby is off work and it is a good excuse to spend some time with the family and I like my hubby being home, as always nice to have an extra pair of hands with the kids.

Some of my favourite things to do include:

– Of course if the weather is good have a BBQ. Many people think it can be the last one of the summer, with September on its way. We all love the usual favourites like burgers and sausages, chicken and sometimes salmon. We often like the mix up dessert and have dark chocolate covered strawberries or marshmallows on the BBQ.

– Hit a National Trust. This can be a bad idea, as they are often very busy if good weather but some have large grounds and best to try those. Take a picnic, as much less stressful than queuing for the cafe.

– House jobs! Yes they are rubbish to do but saves you using up some of your precious weekend time. I love a good declutter, tidy and hubby likes to get in the garden if he has some time.

– Visit friends and family. If they aren’t already busy, it’s a nice excuse to catch up. Most people are off work. We usually see my parents and have a chill day with a bit of fizz.

For us this year we will be celebrating the gremlin’s 6th birthday, which is crazy to think! I’m praying for some good weather, food and fizz.

I hope you enjoy yours!
