Maxi-Cosi Rodi Air Protect Car Seat – **REVIEW**

Maxi-Cosi Rodi Air Protect Car Seat – **REVIEW**

AD – The Maxi-Cosi Rodi Air Protect car seat is definitely worth checking out for a long term car seat for your child.

I always personally find car seats a bit of a minefield, with so many new regulations since my eldest was born and since I was a child. I remember at 6 years old, sitting in the front of my Dad’s car without a booster seat. It all seems a bit crazy now doesn’t it? But your kids get older (and we have a third on the way!) and as they grow and get heavier, they need a car seat that is safe for them.

My hubby loves Max-Cosi and we already have a seat from them for my youngest, we were keen to test out the Maxi-Cosi Rodi Air Protect car seat.

More About The Maxi-Cosi Rodi Air Protect Car Seat

The Maxi-Cosi Rodi Air Protect car seat is a forward-facing stage 2/3 seat and can cover a weight of 15-36kg, this is believed to be from around 3.5 to 12 years old, so it will be used for a good while, which is a plus.

It has patented Air Protect side impact technology which is integrated into headrest. This helps to protect your child’s head in case of collision.

There is an anchorage point in the headrest which stops the seat from moving around, when the seat isn’t in use. This is great, as I have noticed if I break hard or swerve ever, without the kids in the car, my other seats can move in the back.

There is an adjustable reclining position, so if you have a younger child who is planning to have a sleep, you can adjust this. My eldest is 5 now and planned sleeps do not happen often but occasionally she will nod off.

You can adjust the seat in both the height and the width, so it grows with your child.

Isofix is not included but you can purchase separately. We did not have included with this seat, in this review.

All sounds pretty good!

First Impressions

We were sent a light grey seat, Nomad grey and thought the seat looked sturdy and comfortable for my eldest. You can see a little more from the pictures, prior to installation.

Installing the Maxi-Cosi Rodi Air Protect Car Seat

As mentioned the car seat is very portable, so hubby had no issues taking it to the car. We do not have Isofix in either of our cars, so it was simply a case of following the very easy pictorial instructions that came with the seat.

You do simply thread your seat belt through the car seat, as in the pictures. I am very visual so this works really well for me. If someone just told me what to do, I’d not have a clue but this guide really helps, especially with being precise.

My gremlin looked comfortable and happy in the seat and we were happy that she was secure and safe.

It is easy to adjust the headrest up and down, to ensure her head was was in the correct place, so would be protected, as the car seat is designed for. I do like how long the seat lasts, as it grows with your little one, so a good investment. My hubby ensured there was only a 1cm gap between her shoulder and the top of the seatbelt, as per the instructions.

Our Thoughts

We were pretty impressed with the Max-Cosi Rodi Air Protect Car Seat. It is lightweight and very easy to move around from car to car. Occasionally we do have to do this, if my parents have the girls. Any child equipment being portable is always such a bonus.

My husband found it very easy to fit in the car, despite the fact we were not using Isofix. The instructions come with pictures, which ensure you are fitting the seat in correctly, with the belt in the right, safe positions.

I liked how it could be reclined, if you had a younger child who would sleep, as I always feel so sorry for this when their drooly head, flop forwards!

I really like how the seat is secured in, using the headrest of the actual car seat, if applicable, as have had experiences of other car seats moving around in the car.

I was also very impressed with the head rest, with the patented technology. You want reassurance that, in the worst case scenario, you had a crash, you child would be protected. The head is so important and you can see that it protects on both sides.

Overall a thumbs up! There were no obvious negatives that sprang to mind and we are happy with the seat!
