How To Motivate Yourself To Get Fit

How To Motivate Yourself To Get Fit

This is collaborative post.

We all understand the benefits of getting some exercise and keeping our bodies and mind fit and healthy. We understand how important this is for us all to do, and yet it is something that we can struggle to stay on track with. Many of us have the best intentions, but it can be hard to keep on going while balancing everything else in life. This is why today we want to share a few suggestions with you around how to motivate yourself to get fit.

Change your mindset

This is going to be by far the most important thing that you can do for yourself, but it is also likely to be the most difficult one to do. You need to change your mindset.

You will need to view keeping your body fit as an essential and normal part of your everyday life. You cannot see it as an optional extra or something you often cannot find time for. It needs to be a priority.

Mix things up

It can really help you to stay motivated and enthusiastic about exercise if you mix things up from time to time.

It might be that you love hiking and that is how you choose to keep yourself fit and healthy. As you enjoy it so much, you are likely to keep at it. Then you could throw in something completely new and fresh to make it more interesting, such as yoga for hikers, and you will then find that you have added both variety and a different form of exercise to your routine.

Mixing things up can help us to stay interested in our exercise routines and they can also help us to exercise different parts of our bodies.

Make it a social thing

This might not be for everyone, as we know that some people like to get into their own heads when they exercise and focus on what they are doing. However, for others, this can be the perfect way to keep it up.

For some of us, it can be hard to motivate ourselves to get out to the gym or get out on our bikes, but by going with a friend we are more likely to look forward to it and less likely to renege as we wouldn’t want to let our friend down.

This is also handy if you struggle to make time for exercising as you can combine your social life with your fitness mission.

Accept that there is no ‘end’

It can be a great idea to set yourself goals when you start your fitness journey. You might want to be able to run a certain distance, you might want to be able to swim for a certain amount of time or you might measure your achievements in terms of weight or pulse rate. Whatever your goal is, it can be brilliant at motivating you to keep on going, but what about when you reach it?

Keeping ourselves fit and healthy has no end date, it has no final destination. If you know that you need goals to keep you motivated, then keep on setting new ones and altering those benchmarks for yourself as the ultimate goal here is to make keeping fit and exercise an integral part of your life that you would not be able to do without.
