Having healthy snacks on hand for your kids is essential. Children get hungry often and instead of making unhealthy choices having the right things available makes it easier for them to make the right decision.

Snack time is the perfect time for you to sneak in nutrition. Instead of letting your child have snacks that have been highly processed, having healthy delicious choices on hand forces them to make good snack choices.

Here is a look at some healthy treats children can have when they feel for a snack.

Popcorn

This may seem like an odd choice because many people think that it is junk food. However, popcorn is a very nutritious whole-grain. As long as your child does not drench it with too many unhealthy toppings this is a nutritious snack.

It is better to air pop your own popcorn but the ones you buy at the supermarket and pop in the microwave are also nutritious. Popcorn should not be offered to younger children since it can become a choking hazard.

Ants On a Log

This is a snack that is made with celery, peanut butter, and raisins. It is often referred to as ants on a log. It is an easy and effective way to get your child to eat a vegetable.

You can prepare ants on a log by cutting a celery stalk into four pieces, spreading some peanut butter inside the celery, and then arranging a few raisins on top. This is not just a delicious snack it also tastes great as well.

Going Nuts

Nuts are one of the easiest ways to have your children eat a filling nutritious snack. This snack is better offered to older children since it may present a choking hazard for younger children. Make sure that your child is not allergic to nuts.

If your children like peanuts and are not allergic, instead of offering it to them in nut form, you can make a peanut punch with it. In this way, they will get all the nutrition they need without the choking hazard.

Salami and Cheese

Cheese gets a bad rap. However, it is very nutritious, and if eaten in moderation it can provide a lot of nutrition.

You can make a delicious sandwich using Salami. Butter two slices of bread and spread some cheese on both sides, place the salami between the two slices of bread along with some lettuce to add some roughage to the sandwich.

This is a quick and delicious snack. You can buy regular salami or order Halal Salami online, so you can stock up and always have enough available to make this quick and easy sandwich.

Keeping it Healthy

Healthy eating is important for growing kids and it does not have to be difficult, you just have to ensure that you always have the right things on hand to ensure proper nutrition.

Kids will eat what is available. Having healthy options available while reducing the number of unhealthy options makes it easier to ensure that your kids will always make the right choices when it is time to snack.
