I love being active. I would probably go as far to say I have a slight addiction but for the right reasons. It wakes me up, sets me up for the day, it’s sociable and it’s amazing for my mental health. I want my children to be the same. My eldest swims and my middle daughter swims and does kick boxing. They have always known me as someone who goes to the gym or runs. It is part of my core being and I hope I pass this onto all three of my children.
I’m really excited to be part of Character Options Staying Active campaign. Character Options want to help with childhood obesity and mental health issues. They want to help parents get their children active, reduce screen time and allow families to have fun together being active. The Stay Active Range is perfect for this, as allows both indoor and outdoor fun!
Benefits of the Stay Active range include:
• Increased mental wellbeing
• Improved movement, balance, coordination, and reaction time
• Improved social skills, self-esteem, and confidence
Each month as part of the Staying Active Campaign, we will be introducing a new product from the Character Options Stay Active Range. This month we are staying active with Jump It!
Remember when you were a kid and used to have a skipping toy that used to count how many jumps you did? I think mine used to be called a Skip It or I had something similar that had a ball on the end. I LOVED mine. Endless fun and of course you are being active and keeping fit without even realising it. This is perfect for kids of course, especially as we tentatively approach the spring and hopefully some warmer weather. You and your kids can too, as this cool outdoor (and indoor) toy is back in the form of the Jump It Lap Counter Skipping Game.
I of course am a huge fan of anything that gets my kids active and also I can have a go with too!
The Jump It – Lap Counter Skipping Game – More About the Product
The Jump It Lap Counter retails at £12.99 and you can purchase in Smyth’s Toys. It is suitable for children ages 6 years and over.
Jump it is a fun jump and skipping game that can be played indoors and outdoors. You place on your ankle, spin the lap counter ball, jump the cord, and record your laps! Records to 1,000 laps. It helps to improve coordination, fitness & stamina in a fun way.
Jump It! Testing it Out
Jump It did need to be screwed together and you are provided with a small screwdriver and clear instructions. I managed to do this quite easily.
You can see below the little black button to reset the lap counter and the display.
My eldest was really keen to test out but she did struggle at first! It took her a couple of days practice before she cracked the technique. You have to get into a rhythm; jumping and skipping.
I could remember how to do it, so it was great fun. You can challenge each other to see who can get the most laps on the counter. It is tiring, as is like skipping, which is a tiring activity! You can’t get the loop over a huge trainer though. I had to take mine off and put back on; it is aimed at children of course!
Bear in mind:
– You need space! If in doubt indoors, go outdoors. You can bang it on the furniture, as you end up moving around. If you have the space it is good fun for indoors, especially if the weather is bad.
– The product does get a bit scuffed outdoors. We found the Jump It logo was coming off a bit when my eldest used it outdoors. Also the ring around the foot was getting scuffed.
– My eldest played with it loads to get better and she did end up waking up the next day with a bit of a pulled calf! Take it easy, especially if you are someone who doesn’t do a lot of exercise.
My eldest was pretty hooked. She loved having a jump before school in the morning. We do have the space in the lounge and she was also outside after school too.
Overall the Jump It Lap Counter is a really good way for the whole family to have some fun and get active. If you love competition, it is great fun! It is tiring and a great activity for kids.
It does take some practice for newbies; my eldest did take a bit of time to get the knack of it!
As mentioned the product does get a bit scuffed on the pavement and outdoors. If you like to keep everything pristine, you will struggle!
Overall a fun product and brought back some great memories!

Ahh! I remember having one of these, or something like it when I was a child. I always had great fun with it but it didn’t have a counter. What a great addition. x
