When you are part of a busy household it can be hard to maintain your fitness when there is so much going on. Juggling the kids’ school runs, mealtimes, extracurricular activities and homework is a lot to deal with, without even mentioning what you have going on in your own life! So, how do you focus on yourself and your fitness throughout all this? Well, with a great deal of organization, you can incorporate fitness into spending quality time with your family. That’s why here we’ve put together some great ways for you to exercise together as a family. Read on for more.
Volleyball
Volleyball is the ultimate team sport and is perfect if you have a large family. Pick your teams and get warmed up for the big event! Whilst it’s better if your kids are a little older for this activity, they can start from an early age (with a soft ball). The beauty of volleyball is how fun and exciting it is. You’ll be enjoying yourself so much, that it won’t even feel like you’re working your body. It’s also a great way to get outdoors if your garden has enough space – you can get your own volleyball net or even just play over the washing line! Make sure you have all the right gear to keep the kids protected should they fall – check out acevolleyballs guide on kneepads.
Badminton
Another one that can be played recreationally in the garden, badminton is a game that kids and adults alike love. As the shuttlecock is so light, you don’t have to worry about any injuries from it – you just need to try to make sure there are no bumps or tumbles midplay! If you can’t play badminton at home or you don’t have the right equipment, then see if there is somewhere you can play locally. With this, you should also be able to hire or borrow equipment too.
Walking
Free of charge, low-impact, and easy to chat along the way – a walk is a perfect way to spend a relaxed Sunday. If you have any nature trails or scenic spots near to you, then even better! Grab a packed lunch and make a day of it. Getting outside is also a lovely way to teach your children about different animals and plants, which is something that could spark a lifelong passion within them.
Dance Routines
Are you on TikTok? Even if you’re not, your kids probably are. And what’s TikTok full of? Dance routines! So, if you’re at home and have some free time, then challenge your family to create a dance together. You’ll have a lot of laughs along the way, and who knows, if you succeed you could even post it to TikTok and become the next viral sensation. Give it a go!
Exercising as part of a group is one of the best ways to get fit, as it’s often much more enjoyable. As well, by instilling the fitness mindset into your kids from an early age, they’re much more likely to be motivated to exercise in later life.
