School time is approaching once again and for the first time it actually means something to me. My gremlin is starting school. I have the mad, crazy rush of getting school uniform, a bag, labelling and the thing I have heard a lot of parents dread: getting school shoes.
My gremlin is extremely girly so when we were given the chance to review of pair of shoes from Jake Shoes, a quick scroll on their website got her extremely excited. It would be a novel thing for me to buy the gremlin’s shoes online and I was keen to see how it would work out.
About Jake Shoes
Jake are a family ran company and have been around since 1975. They offer shoes a little different to the rest of the high street, so you will find some old favourites likes Uggs, Lelli Kelly, Converse and Vans but others you may not see elsewhere.
They cater for ladies, men and children and the shoes are sourced from all over the world.
For those who live in Manchester or Stockport, there are stores you can visit located in the upper floor of the Manchester Arndale and Stockport town centre. They offer a full measuring and fitting service and you can call for advice if buying online.
There are some good perks to buying with Jake; a price match promise, free next-day delivery on orders over £40 and 10% off your first order.
What We Chose
The gremlin eagerly sat on my knee and had a good look at what she would like. I knew for a fact she would pick something girly and bright and of course she proved me right.
She picked a pair of Lelli Kelly’s – Angel Changeable straps shoes in patent. I had previously got hubby to take her to get her feet measured when she was getting a new pair of trainers so she chose the F width, size 9. These currently retail at £49.99.
She was sooo excited when they arrived and I have to admit they are a lovely pair of shoes. They came with a lipgloss palette which made me giggle after all the sexism kick off with Clarks but she adored it. We spent a good half an hour re-doing each other’s lips!
The gremlin was also fascinated with how she could change the straps and sat changing them around. I liked this as the butterfly is very sparkly; if she needed to be a little less bling, she could be.
They fitted her perfectly and I like the way Jake shoes do offer the option to return the shoes, if unworn within 14 days. I have heard of feet suddenly growing before school starts, so this is a little reassuring!
My gremlin loves her new school shoes and I have had to prise them off her feet to prevent her scuffing them before she even starts.
I found receiving shoes from Jake an easy experience. As long as you have an accurate foot measurement it gave me the option to choose some shoes I may not have chosen if gone to a standard high street retailer. There are so many brands and styles to choose from.
I may have a little browse myself!
