This year it looks like it may be another tricky year for being able to leave our shores if wanting to go on holiday. I didn’t think I would be writing this again. We pushed back our holiday to Rhodes for 2020 for another year and it is looking like we may not be going again. It’s sad, as holidays abroad as part of our family tradition and we have always gone with my parents. However, all is not lost as you can get staycation ready by taking part in the Big Little Tent Festival from The Caravan and Motorhome Club.
As a family we haven’t camped away from home before but my work colleague raves about it. They go yearly and are always trying to entice us to come. We have a tent and some equipment, so really should. I know camping can be a great way to experience something new and take you out of your comfort zone. I’ve only camped once in my teens and know I really should try again with the kids.
This 2021, the Big Little Tent Festival from The Caravan and Motorhome Club, will really help us to get in the camping mood.
What is the Big Little Tent Festival?
Easter is coming and already I can feel it starting to warm up slightly. A long walk leaves me feeling like I’d needed a lighter jacket and I’m coming home from work to lighter evenings. This is the perfect time for the Caravan and Motorhome Club’s annual Big Little Tent Festival. They invite would-be campers to try a night under canvas in the comfort of their own gardens and homes this Easter, over the 3rd and 4th of April 2021.
This is the perfect time, before camp sites hopefully re-open, for you to pitch a tent and practice camping before you try venturing further afield. You may want to try your garden or even a pop up tent indoors? The Big Little Tent Festival has a great schedule planned over the 3rd and 4th April, including a Zoom party to meet The Mermaid Princess and The Friendly Neighbourhood Hero for games, superhero training, and a campfire song! You can find out a little more on the Big Little Tent Festival Facebook Page.
We downloaded the Big Little Tent Festival pack to get us ready and you can too here for free – www.camc.com/bltf.
There is also a chance to win a Vango Tryfell tent worth £220, courtesy of Cotswold Outdoor, and there is also the chance to win two children’s bikes, courtesy of Raleigh, worth £350 each. Definitely worth checking out!
What is in the Big Little Tent Festival downloadable pack?
The pack contains everything you will need for a fun-filled 24 hours of camping…or maybe more if you decide you love it!
The pack includes checklists, games and suggested activities to ensure the adventure is a memorable one. You can see a little more from my pictures below.
What Will We Be Doing for the Big Little Tent Festival?
We’ve pitched a tent in the garden before and the kids loved it. It was exciting and they loved eating outdoors too.
This year we are planning on having a BBQ, as my girls have been asking for one since Christmas ended. They just love burgers and sausages and eating outdoors. They are also both quite partial to a toasted marshmallow too!
If the weather is a bit iffy we have a really cute teepee that we can set up in the lounge and decorate with some bunting or fairy lights. My kids love a movie night, so we may snuggle down with the duvets and watch a film. They have slept downstairs before for my middle daughter’s birthday and it was really exciting.
Hopefully whatever we do it will be fun!
You can check out all the fun from the weekend using the hashtag #BLTF21. Also why notfollow them across social media. @BigLittleTent on Twitter and @BigLittleTentFestival on Instagram and Facebook.

My sons are both desperate to go camping so this would be so perfect for them. Although I may wimp out and camp inside rather than the garden. The online events look great too. I especially like the sound of Easter Baking with Karen Wright!
Camping is fab. We go a couple of times a year as a family and really enjoy it. This is a fun ideas to join in with, we may put ours up in the garden.
We’re taking part in the Big Little Tent Festival this weekend as well. We’re not true campers so we’ll be setting up in our living room. It should be fun!
The downloadable pack is fantastic. So many great activities for little ones to keep them entertained. We’d love to try glamping.
Oh this sounds like great fun! We will also not be going abroad this year and currently looking for options and hoping we have not left it too late! The boys really enjoy putting the tent up in the garden so we will be joining with this.
The big little tent festival pack has some really nice goodies to keep the kids occupied when camping, we love to see it.
