Assembling The Product

One afternoon during half term I roped my eldest and middle daughter into building the Playmobil City Life Recycling Truck. In knew it would keep them busy for a little while. We had given it to my little man for his birthday and he had been itching to out it together.

It was very straight forward. The instructions are always pretty easy to follow with Playmobil but you do have to make sure you have all the parts in front of you to find. My middley emptied some into the box, so we could find them. The smaller parts come in bags you need to open. I have noticed sometimes the contents can be a bit random, so you don’t always find what you expect in the same bags!

My eldest, who is 8 quite comfortably sat and built the truck. It wasn’t too complicated. She took a little time to add all the stickers and did say this bit was a little more tricky. She could follow the instructions. They are all in picture form and in order.

The parts were very easy to clip together, sturdy and robust! I did accidentally put a wheel in the wrong place and my husband had to use a screwdriver to prise out(!), so make sure you follow the instructions well.

I would say it took about 15-20 minutes to fully build and my little man was really excited.

Playing with the Playmobil Recycling Truck

My younger two children loved the finished toy. They played for ages. The lights flash when pressed and go off after 3 minutes. You can attach the recycling bins to the truck and tip your recycling into the truck. This looks really authentic!

The figures can also attach their hands to the trucks to pull the recycling bins. It is brilliant for imaginative play!

Overall Thoughts

I was really impressed with the City Life Recycling truck. It’s sturdy and really good quality. Although aimed at 4 years and over, I trusted my 3 year old to play with it. There are smaller parts, so do bear this in mind.

The instructions are easy to follow and a child could put together, with some support. My 8 year old had no problems. It is also quite satisfying building something to be able to play with it afterwards.

The concept of it being a recycling truck is a great message and good for discussions with children about recycling and being eco-friendly.

The product is great for imaginative play and for children who like to copy others and really pretend they are really doing a job.

I loved the way the recycling bins can be attached to the truck and kids can really empty the trucks! It’s a smooth drive and my little man loved pushing it along the floor and making the lights flash up.

Overall it’s a fun product and I know my little man is going to continue having a lot of fun playing with it.
