10 Kid’s Bento Box Lunchbox Ideas with Jack’s Supermarket | AD

tuna pasta salad bento box ideas

Lunchbox ideas and now for me bento box lunchbox ideas – the absolute bane of my life since both my girls went back to school. Every week, as another week passes with them at school, I am so grateful they are still back and having their education but it is another week of packed lunches!!  My baby boy has to have them too, twice a week but this was expected as he is at his childminder’s. The girls, not so much.

This hasn’t always been the case. last year my eldest was in Year 2 and she had free school meals. She wasn’t allowed a packed lunch and life was a lot easier. I knew she had eaten and could have a bit of a snack tea. Now we have to pay for lunches and and I don’t really want to pay for a sandwich when I can make it make it myself? So somedays she has a packed lunch and others, a hot dinner. My middle daughter has just started pre-school and wrap around care 3 days a week and they don’t offer a hot dinner for her! This is due to Covid restrictions sadly, so she needs a lunch too.

When it’s essential to have enough food in daily to make bento boxes or lunchboxes up, you need a easy place to shop, local and good value. We were kindly given a £40 voucher to spend at Jack’s to help me with my lunchbox idea woes!

More About Jack’s

Jack aim to bring great tasting food, at great value prices. Jack’s was of course founded by someone called Jack, who wanted to make affordable food available to everyone! Jack’s Stores are based across the UK, in Middlewich, Barnsley, St Helens and Liverpool. We headed over to our local Jack’s in West Bromwich, which is about 5 miles away.

Jack’s love the flavours of Britain and are passionate about working with hundreds of regional farmers, growers and producers.

They are family focussed, aiming to provide produce for families to cook delicious, affordable meals.

We headed over to local Jack’s, a list and my voucher! I have to say I had quite a bit of money left for another trip and I had everything on my list. So very good value.

The kids came along too (drove me mad) and enjoyed helping me find everything we needed. There was lots of choice!

10 Kid’s Bento Box and Lunchbox Ideas

After heading over to Jack’s we had some great products to use for our bento boxes for the next 2 weeks! Jack’s stock their own brand products, as well as common, known brands, so we have a mixture included for the ideas.

I also have to add my kids will not eat all these ideas!! Some of these are my fantasy ideas. They are pretty good with salad and fruit and yoghurt. They love egg, cheese and tuna but like most kids like their foods separately! So, yes, my disclaimer.

Plus I do usually have a balance of protein, carbohydrates, fruit, veggies and a treat, like a cereal bar or crisps. It is up to you if you want to make some substitutions. We are all different as parents but I definitely believe in a balance and that’s what I teach my kids.

So without further ado, some ideas for 2 weeks of bento box lunches.

Tuna pasta salad, Chopped grapes, Greek Yoghurt, a Cereal bar and Apple Juice

I do have an easy recipe for tuna pasta salad on the blog too that you may want to try. It’s one of our family favourite recipes and is really filling, to keep kid’s going. My kids love Greek Yoghurt too and it’s a delicious alternative to fromage frais.

Hard Boiled egg, Bread and Butter, Cucumber, a Satsuma and a Yoghurt Drink

My eldest loves an egg and they definitely don’t just have to be for breakfast.

Cheese and Ham Pitta bread, Sweetcorn, a Fromage Frais, Chopped Strawberries and a Cereal Bar

I love a pitta bread and it can be something a little different to bread and a sandwich.

Cold Pizza, Cherry Tomatoes, Blueberries, a Yoghurt Lolly and some Malt Loaf

My eldest adores cold pizza for lunch and it is a really easy option. Make the night before and slice up! She has with friend and salad and a pretty balanced meal.

Tuna and Sweetcorn Wrap, An Apple, Baked Crisps, Greek Yoghurt and 2 small Cookies

A tuna wrap is such an easy one to make! I love it with extra salad but the girls won’t have anything of it!!

Cheese and Crackers, Carrot Sticks, a Banana, Yoghurt Drink and a Plain Biscuit

Cheese and crackers are a really easy picky option, especially for kids who get a bit fed up of sandwiches or wraps. My middley used to love this as a snack during lockdown.

Meat or Quorn Mini Sausages, Crackers, Sweetcorn, a Yoghurt Lolly, Some Chopped Grapes and Pom Bears

I actually prefer my kids to have the Quorn mini sausages and they really like them! Plus a healthier option really.

Chicken Pieces, Bread and Butter, Cucumber and Carrot Sticks, a Fromage Frais, Pom Bears and Apple Juice

My middley loves chicken pieces. Some times we have some left over from a roast dinner and other times we buy chicken bites from the shop. I often put a cold pack in her bag to keep everything cool.

Soft Cheese Wrap with Cherry Tomatoes, a Banana, Rice Cakes and Greek Yoghurt

I am rubbish at folding wraps, as you can see below but a bit of soft cheese inside a wrap can be really tasty!!

Pitta Bread, Pepper Sticks and Houmous, Apple, a Baked Crisps and a Pouch Yoghurt

I love a dippy meal and pitta bread pieces and houmous is perfect for this. Tasty, filling and healthy!

Bento box ideas - hummus and dips

I have to admit I am starting to slightly enjoy making the lunches and it is nice to know what they are eating everyday. It’s a great way to get the fruit and veg in and doesn’t have to be too complex!

I’m even getting better at making these the night before and that is very organised for me!

Let me know if you have any more ideas and thank you Jack’s for some delicious food for Bento Box and lunchbox ideas. You certainly made my life a little easier!

I cannot wait to start sending the kids in with proper lunchboxes again……our school has requested paper bags that can be thrown away at the moment

Wow, what a lot of great packed lunch ideas! My kids are quite adventurous eaters at home, but get really picky about pack lunches and it’s easy to fall into just giving them the same old things every time. Will have to bookmark this for inspiration!

These are all great ideas for children’s packed lunches. I make a range of different things for my kids too. It makes it far more interesting rather than a sandwich each day.

I don’t know about the kids… I’d definitely have these for my own lunch!! My local shop has started stocking the Jacks range so I will have to pick some up, the pizzas in particular would go down a treat in our house!

    Thanks for the inspiration x
