Elli Smiles Doll REVIEW – The Interactive Doll Who Really Smiles | AD

girl playing with Elli Smiles doll

My middle little girl is all about her dolls now. She is now 3 years old and hit that lovely stage of wanting to care for her dolls, feed them and put them to bed. It’s adorable to watch and I always say 3 is such a fun age. Lots of chatter, imaginary games and lots of cuddles. She has asked for a doll this Christmas and I thought the new Elli Smiles Doll by Zapf Creation would be perfect for her. She specifically asked for a baby with a potty and a dummy, so I knew she would be so adorable. This Elli Smiles Doll Review may help you choose whether or not it is the perfect present for your little one.

I roped my official toy tester, my eldest and told her to keep quiet, as this would be one of her sister’s Christmas presents! She is usually pretty good at this and understands that Santa brings presents but Mummy’s blog also does! I was looking forward to giving her the new Elli Smiles Doll.

More About the Elli Smiles Doll – Elli Smiles Doll Review

Elli Smiles is a doll who actually begins a real connection to her doll parents! She recognises them when they wear a special necklace with a really cute smile. She’s got a lovely so soft body is a very realistic! She smiles when happy and cries when she is feeling sad. She has a dummy, she can suck and she drinks water, so can wet her nappy.

My little one will love singing to her and rocking her to sleep. She wakes if she makes too much or lifted up. She is designed to be like a real baby at 8 months old with unique sounds and movement. She’s aimed at children aged 3 years and older.

Elli Smiles is a 43cm doll with dress, leggings, hat and fabric shoes. Included is a potty, nappy, bottle, dummy and necklace.

The necklace comes with a C battery, so the necklace is ready to go. The Elli Smiles Doll requires batteries 3 x AA which are not included. Bear all this in mind if getting as a Christmas present for your little ones. She also comes with instructions in the Elli Smiles Manual.

She is available from The Entertainer and RRPs at £79.99 but at time if posting has 1/3 off this price.

Testing Out the Product

I decided to have little go with the Elli Smiles Doll when both my girls were out of the picture, at school and nursery and the little man was having his sleep.

Eli Doll was easy to get out and hubby had 3 x AAA batteries at the ready, so we go her set up. First impressions was she was a very sweet looking doll, with a soft body. Very nice to cuddle for my girls.

As soon as she was switched on she started making some few cute baby noises; babbling away. She has a simple on-off switch on her back and the instructions were easy to follow. If we stopped playing with her she went quiet, I’m guessing to conserve the batteries which is always good!

Elli Smiles comes with a potty, dummy, bottle, nappy and necklace for you to wear, as you can see below.

There is also a nappy included but as we were saving this for my middle girl’s Christmas present we didn’t get this out of the box.

The first thing I wanted to see was the Elli doll smiling! So I turned the necklace on, by pressing in and put Elli in front of me! She really does smile, say Mama and make some very happy sounds. It was really quite sweet!

My eldest really liked this aspect too and we were sure her little sister would too!

The other features we tested was putting Elli Smiles dummy in and she sucks it and makes cute little gurgling sounds. Both my girls are mad about giving their babies dummies, which is odd as they never had them as babies!

You can fill up the included bottle with CLEAN water and feed Elli Smiles properly! This is quite similar to Baby Annabell and my girls always love being able to really feed their dolls! The more realistic the better. You need to squeeze the bottle gently. Too hard and some will spill a little.

You have to press the heart button on Elli Smiles tummy and this makes her wee; either in her nappy or on the potty.

This aspect of the doll often takes a little bit of practice and you do have to make sure you have fed your Elli Smiles enough water. To do this make sure you press her bottle to squeeze the water into the tank in her tummy. She doesn’t suck the water in. It’s making sure you get a good squeeze on her tummy too, to release the water. Also keep a towel handy, in case. My girls don’t half like to make a mess everywhere!

Elli Smiles also can be comforted and patted. She may need to make a burp sound and will always smile after. You can also rock Elli to sleep and put her down. She will wake up though if noisy or picked up for more cuddles. This is cute, as she makes adorable sleeping noises and breathes like asleep.

You can also play with her and she will say weeeh! She is very much like my little boy, who is 9 months old.

Our Thoughts on the Elli Smiles Doll

I think the Elli Smiles Doll is adorable. A really cute doll. She is light to hold and soft and her face is lovely; with big blue eyes. It is very difficult not to fall a bit in love with her.

The smiling aspect is so clever and the way she says “mama” and smiles will melt some little children’s hearts. She sounds like my little boy saying “mama”, so it is really cute!

I found her quite straight forward also. The instructions are in picture form and easy to understand and is not too complex  in the respect, she does a lot but not too much! The girls have reviewed other toys and they have just been a little too complicated and hard for even my eldest to follow. Elli Smiles is perfect in she does what a real baby does. She drinks, uses her potty or nappy and falls asleep. Perfect for children to care for her.

You do have to make sure you have fed Elli Smiles enough water to ensure she will wee and press her button hard enough but this comes with practice. I have had to help my eldest a little at first.

Price-wise the Elli Smiles doll is competitive with other interactive products on the market at present and I can imagine she will be popular, as is so sweet and quite original.

Overall the Elli Smiles Doll is unique and very adorable. As a doll she is quite simple to use but has the important aspects for children to really feel like they are looking after her.

I’m really looking forward to giving her to my little girl and seeing her face when her Ellie Smiles Doll smiles at her on Christmas morning.

I like the look of this doll as it looks different to a lot of dolls on offer. Jasmine is doll-crazy at the moment so I’ll have to check these out.
